The first “Xiangjiang Welding Forum” (the 13th Hunan Welding Forum) came to a successful conclusion.

On November 23, 2024, the first “Xiangjiang Welding Forum” (the 13th Hunan Welding Forum) was successfully held at Changsha Tianyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., jointly organized by the Hunan Welding Association and the Welding Branch of the Hunan Mechanical Engineering Society.

This forum, with the theme of “New Quality Production Power Leading Green, Efficient and Intelligent Development in Welding Manufacturing”, brought together experts and scholars from renowned universities, representatives from domestic and foreign enterprises, and industry elites. Over 200 people gathered together. In the backdrop of AI empowering thousands of industries, they jointly explored the integration of new processes, new technologies, new equipment and artificial intelligence for high-quality development.

The first welding forum is a continuation of the Hunan Welding Forum and also a new starting point. It has achieved new heights and greater influence. On one hand, experts sharing at this forum include professors and doctoral supervisors from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hunan University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Nanchang Aeronautical University, and Xiangtan University, who are influential experts in the industry. On the other hand, international experts from enterprises such as CSR Zhuzhou Machinery, the welding director of the Chinese Government Friendship Award recipient, Mr. Geidler from Austria, Sherry Cai, a double-masters degree holder from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and experts from domestic industry-leading enterprises such as Shanhe Intelligent Equipment, Tianyi Welding, Nanjing Esteron Electric, Guosuan (Shanghai) Intelligent Science and Technology, and Xianggong Environmental Protection, have also shared and presented their knowledge.

The report covers cutting-edge academic research such as intelligent welding robots for complex structural steel, the application of advanced lasers in cutting and welding, research on digital twins and welding deformation throughout the entire manufacturing cycle of steel structures, high-entropy alloy plasma additive technology, policy interpretations on vocational skills training and recognition, as well as challenges and excellent cases of high-strength steel welding in railway locomotive manufacturing, the development and market trends of digitalization in welding for high-end offshore engineering equipment, digital twin enabling digitalized welding production lines, applications of active image vision sensors in welding automation, and digitalization leading to the creation of an international first-class welding innovation research and pilot testing base. The report is full of fascinating content, with lively discussions, and the attending welding professionals have gained a lot.

The forum was jointly chaired by Yao Yao from Changsha University, Professor Xiao Yifeng, the vice president and secretary-general of the Welding Branch of the Hunan Mechanical Engineering Society, and Secretary-General Li Zhiming of the Hunan Welding Association. The forum began with a welcome speech by Mark Xiang, the president of the Hunan Welding Association, and a speech by the leaders of the Hunan Department of Industry and Information Technology. Industry Contribution Award and Industry Promotion Award were presented to Zhuzhou Guochuang Railways and Changsha Tianyi Intelligent respectively. The general manager of Changsha Tianyi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Duan Jianbao, delivered the opening remarks as the host.

In addition to the wonderful presentations, we also visited the intelligent welding R&D and innovation pilot base of Changsha Tianyi Welding Headquarters at noon. This base made its first public display. The core of Tianyi Welding’s future welding factory’s digital and intelligent overall solution is through the combination of software and hardware, along with high-end equipment, intelligent production lines, production services, and the Internet, and through the joint development of an innovative platform. Combined with the forum learning, and then experiencing it firsthand, the soft and hardwares such as AI welding large models, intelligent production line informatization, intelligent welding management system, laser, 3D printing, crawling robot friction stir welding, etc., left all the guests with a deep impression of the green, efficient, and digital development of welding.

After a full day of sharing, communication and visits, the participating representatives remained fully engaged, absorbing knowledge, broadening their horizons, making new friends, and jointly promoting the development of welding technology, as well as jointly enhancing the manufacturing equipment level in Hunan. They look forward to continuing the wonderful events next year.
